The fruit for out 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon was carefully selected from prime vineyards in some of Napa Valley’s best regions, including Atlas Peak and Spring Mountain. Winemaker Joe Shirley’s commitment to sourcing fruit from the best regions in Napa ensures a classic wine that showcases the essence of a quintessential Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.
The 2015 growing season in Napa Valley started out with unseasonably warm temperatures in late winter and early spring, which resulted in an early bud break and bloom. Overall, the vintage was defined by high quality fruit and lower yields.
The grapes were hand-harvested in the cool morning hours to ensure optimal flavor. At the winery the fruit was hand-sorted, gently de-stemmed and lightly crushed. Following a 10- to 16- day maceration period to maximize color and flavor extraction and to polish the tannins, the wine was aged in 100% French oak barrels.
